Bokitani’s Paris x London Crossover
Fete de la Musique is a day of city wild street parties and music that has been going since the 80s in Paris, but since last year it has increased in popularity and attracted an international audience with people travelling from all over the globe to go to Paris on that day. The biggest minority seems to be from the UK, with quick travel links making it easy for Brits to get over to Paris and enjoy the day as they would enjoy Notting Hill Carnival in August.
A new collective has seen the connection that Fete has created between the British and the French and are putting on an event at this year’s edition of Fete to showcase this connection. Bokitani are a France based creative collective, bringing together black diaspora voices through artistic, cultural and political initiatives. They do this through working on artistic exploits in film, events and music, and will be putting on an event showcasing music from across the black diaspora.
Bokitani’s event titled ‘Paris x London Crossover’, will be showcasing music from both cities. From France, DJs NOA, Imsobaby, OKA and Orpheee will be playing some afrodiasporic club music including coupe decale, batida and gqom. There will also be live music performance from French artists Ezek, Big Blue and LW2 showcasing some afrofuturistic trap and urban folk sounds. Bokitani are teaming up with EuroTripping Radio to bring some artists and DJs over from the UK. Voices Radio queen Ellz, legendary grime DJ General Courts, Bread and Butter’s Steeziskey and Dazed club curator Fat-lip will be playing UK sounds during their DJ sets such as garage, grime and dupstep. The UK contingent will have live music from rapper extraordinaire Natoflorine exhibiting some grime and hip-hop. There may even be a special cypher during the event too.
Pull up to Bokitani’s Paris x London Crossover event at Fete de la Musique on Sunday 21st June 2026 at Le Mistral Gagnant, 2 Rue Saint-Mathieu, 75018 Paris, France from 4pm to 2am.
